We are going to Tucson, AZ for twelve weeks! It's amazing that almost three years ago we were preparing to go to Kenya. The kids are in grade 3 now and Eric and I have certainly aged!
We will be serving with Mennonite Mission Network - SOOP (Service Projects for Older Persons, and might I add, families). We'll be traveling to Tucson on December 1 in a borrowed 21-foot RV, which will be our home. We'll be parked at Shalom Mennonite Church and will utilize the church some for homeschooling. There is a VS unit there with several young adults and there will be up to six other couples joining us in the parking lot after Christmas as volunteers.
Eric is going to volunteer with CHRPA (Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona) and the kids and I will be busy with homeschooling. Over the holidays, we hope to all volunteer together with the Tucson Food Bank. This is totally new - unlike what we've done before at Tenwek Hospital.
It's exciting. It's also a little overwhelming right now to prepare to leave our home for almost three months. Living in a small RV in a church parking lot will have it's challenges, but we hope to spend more time outside...we'll see!
We will especially appreciate prayers and will also enjoy receiving emails! The holidays will be interesting, being far from friends and family. Let us know if you'd like our snail mail address.
